Unlike English prepositions, Oromo uses postpositions that follow the noun. This dramatically shifts sentence construction logic.
Core Postpositions
- Ala - Outside
- Bira - Beside / With
- Jala - Under / Beneath
- Gubbaa - Above
- Keessa - In / Inside
Example: Qalamn; dabtara gubbaa jira. (The pen is on the notebook.) Chaaltuun ala waadaa keessa teessi. (Chaaltuu sits in the kitchen.)
